Bespoke 4m x 7m 44mm x 44mm Twin Skin Log Cabin.

Hi all, another post, and this one has a long story attached to it.
We first started working with our client (Jackie) 4 years ago; she had 1001 questions and her desire to have the best log cabin she could afford. And she was going to save up because she said we manufactured the best, and she wanted the best!

What she wanted was a place where she could clean her pets and also chill out, watch TV, drink a cup of tea, with no loud noises, in her garden; all she wanted was peace!

What was very important was that it would hold all that Mother Nature could throw at it, as she is in the top end of Scotland, where the weather is one minute sunny then pouring down with rain.

Jackie only wanted one from our cabins, as she was sure that we sold the best, plus we could easily bespoke it to her needs. Jackie had also spoken to a few of our other customers and had asked them about the quality, etc. Also, we said please look around and then, if they are happy, come back. Jackie and her husband, Gerry, decided to visit every dealer in Aberdeenshire and the surrounding areas and check what else was available and what the pricing was on offer. They were looking for quality, and Jackie had read quite a lot of my blog. So she knew what’s what.

So here are some photos of their build. And the outcome.

So the concrete base went down, and as you all know, bad base, bad build. All flooring was impregnated and dampproofed.

Our internal doors for all our log cabins are superb quality.

All windows and doors are treated before they are put into place. Our windows and doors are manufactured from Joinery Glulam; we are not very keen on putting plastic, cheap windows and doors into our cabins (which are sold as an expensive upgrade) as we are able to manufacture the best joinery wooden ones, double-glazed tilt, and turn on our new CNC window and door line.

A lot of the mass-manufactured cabins may have an upgrade offered on their websites from their cheap, awful windows and doors, and then they offer plastic. The reason for this is obvious: they cannot manufacture quality. This is the first sign that what you are thinking of purchasing is mass-manufactured rubbish! The price is tempting, but the quality is poor!

Twin skins are perfect for all seasons, and as the first to manufacture these and design this system, I think we know what we are talking about!

We do not have missing bits, and that one thing for you is a blessing.

We use Swedish timber, which is now the best on the planet to manufacture your log cabins from? The Swedish know how to cut and prepare logs.

It’s really important to know what you are buying, who you are buying from, and always remember that purchasing your cabin from the best means your cabin will last you the test of time; cheap means a few years; our means 30 years plus.As long as you stick to our terms and conditions.

If it rains, you must always have a cover ready to put over the building; we do not want damage, you do not want damage, and if you listen to us if your doing a self-build, there are a few things you must have at hand. Jackie and Gerry listened to us, and that’s why their build was spot on in every sense. Plus Gerry did not screw the logs together, who in their right mind came up with this idea—madness, stupidity at the lowest level. The logs must settle, and if you screw them together, when they shrink, it leaves gaps—rather large gaps.

Bespoke 4m x 7m 44mm x 44mm Twin Skin Log Cabin

The great thing about twin skins is that you can hide all the wires in side the viod.

A small scaffolding tower is best to have at hand. Health and safety first…

Add a protective layer of water proof paint on the roof boards a very clever idea.

You must let this dry before you move forward.

Then… battens, insulation, and OSB.

And on top of that, a felt roof. Wow, not finished yet.

Then shingles! Yep. An all-weather log cabin… only from factory cabins.

Looks solid!! This cabin can be slept in in minus 30 easy!

Bespoke 4m x 7m 44mm x 44mm Twin Skin Log Cabin

Now inside…….

Doing the floor is a quality job, as its the last thing to do, and it’s actually the hardest, as you must make sure you have done all your calculations so they are correct. The floor must be spot on!

Massivley insulated floor, base, and well done.. Superb!

So if you are looking for a high-quality insulated twin-skin log cabin, please give us a call.

The Real Twin Skin Log Cabins

Understanding Twinskin Log Cabins: A Comprehensive Guide

Twinskin log cabins have become a popular choice for those seeking sustainable and eco-friendly housing solutions. These structures offer durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, making them a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Defining Twinskin Log Cabins

Twinskin log cabins, also known as double-skin or dual-wall cabins, consist of two layers of logs with an insulated cavity between them. This design enhances the thermal performance of the cabin by providing superior insulation compared to single-wall constructions. The outer and inner walls create a barrier against heat transfer, ensuring comfortable living conditions throughout the year.

Constructing Twinskin Log Cabins

The construction process of a twinskin log cabin begins with the careful selection of high-quality logs. These logs are usually sourced from sustainably managed forests and undergo meticulous inspection to ensure structural integrity. Once selected, the logs are precisely machined and fitted together to form the outer and inner walls of the cabin. Insulation material, such as mineral wool or foam board, is then added to the space between the two walls to minimise heat loss and increase energy efficiency.

The roof structure is constructed using heavy timber or engineered wood trusses and covered with durable roofing materials, such as shingles or metal panels. As the roof is being installed, the flooring system is also put in place, providing a solid foundation for the cabin. Homeowners can choose from a range of flooring options, from traditional hardwood to eco-friendly alternatives like bamboo or cork.

The Benefits of Twinskin Log Cabins

  1. Energy Efficiency
The double-wall construction of twinskin log cabins significantly reduces heat loss, resulting in lower energy consumption for heating and cooling. This translates to cost savings for homeowners and a reduced environmental footprint.
  2. Durability
Constructed from sturdy logs and built to withstand harsh weather conditions, twinskin log cabins boast exceptional durability. With proper maintenance, these structures can last for generations, making them a wise investment for homeowners seeking long-term reliability.
  3. Aesthetic Appeal
Twinskin log cabins exude rustic charm and timeless elegance, adding character to any landscape. Their natural beauty, showcased through the exposed logs and warm wood tones, creates a welcoming atmosphere that harmonises with the surrounding environment.
  4. Customisation Options
From cosy retreats to spacious family homes, twinskin log cabins offer versatile design possibilities to suit diverse preferences and lifestyles. Homeowners can personalise their cabins with various features, such as loft spaces, porches, and decorative finishes, to create a unique living space tailored to their needs.

Environmental Sustainability
In addition to their energy-efficient design, twinskin log cabins promote environmental sustainability through the use of renewable materials and eco-friendly construction practices. By choosing responsibly sourced timber and employing efficient building techniques, homeowners can minimise their ecological impact while enjoying the benefits of a natural, healthy living environment.

Twinskin log cabins offer a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, providing the best of both worlds in terms of aesthetics and functionality. With their superior insulation, durability, and eco-friendliness, these sustainable housing solutions are becoming a sought-after choice for homeowners. Whether placed in a tranquil forest or atop a scenic vista, twinskin log cabins offer a serene haven that allows homeowners to embrace the beauty of nature while enjoying the comforts of home.

A Deeper Dive into 44mm and 70mm Twin-Skin Log Cabins
When exploring the world of log cabins, it can be overwhelming to choose from the various options available. However, when it comes to maximising comfort and style, 44mm twin-skin log cabins are a clear standout. In this section, we will take a closer look at the features that make these cabins a top choice for outdoor living and why they should be at the top of your list when considering a retreat or additional living space.

Superior Construction for Durability
One of the most significant advantages of 44mm and 70mm twin-skin log cabins is their robust construction. These cabins are made of thick double-walled logs, with a 44mm thickness on both the interior and exterior walls. This design creates a sturdy and weather-resistant structure, providing maximum protection from the elements. The thick walls also offer superior insulation, keeping the interior of the cabin at a comfortable temperature year-round.

The logs used in these cabins are hand-selected for their strength and durability. They undergo a rigorous quality check process to ensure that only the best-quality materials are used in construction.

Furthermore, the logs are treated with preservatives to protect them from mould, rot, and insect infestation. This treatment not only adds to the durability of the cabin but also ensures its longevity, making it a long-term investment for your outdoor space.

Aesthetic Appeal for Every Style
Beyond their durability, 44mm or 70mm twin-skin log cabins are also known for their aesthetic appeal. These cabins come in a variety of styles, from traditional to modern, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your outdoor space. The cabins’ design enhances the logs’ inherent beauty, creating a charming and welcoming exterior that gives any landscape character.

The interior of these cabins is just as spectacular. The spacious and open layout allows for versatility in design, making it easy to create a space that is uniquely yours. Whether you want to create a rustic and cosy atmosphere or a contemporary and chic living space, these cabins offer a blank canvas for your creativity.

Unleashing Versatility with Practicality
One of the most significant advantages of 44mm and 70mm twin-skin log cabins is their versatility. These cabins don’t have fixed designs like conventional brick-and-mortar buildings do. They can be customised to suit your specific needs, making them a practical choice for a wide range of purposes.

These cabins are ideal for use as weekend getaways, guest houses, home offices, hobby rooms, or artist’s studios. The spacious interiors allow for the addition of features like lofts, porches, or storage solutions, giving you the freedom to tailor the cabin to your specific requirements.

Moreover, with their highly insulated double walls, these cabins are suitable for use in any season. Their thick construction traps heat in colder weather and keeps the interior cool during hot summer days. This versatility makes them an excellent investment for those looking for a retreat or additional living space that can be used year-round.

Timber Frame Super Insulated Passive Housing

qulaity timber frame passive homes

timber frame passive housing

Our New Passive Range of Timber Frame cassettes are not solely for the Park Home Market.

Our New and Amazing Super Insulated Timber Panel System is with out doubt the future for all New Dwellings, as we believe setting standards of a quality build at incredibly low prices is the way forward for also the housing market.

Offering the chance for first time buyers to purchase a quality build at a price they can afford!

For too long brick and block with gas central heating, has dominated the landscape, blighting our country with poorly insulated housing, which costs 2 times its actual value!

UK Building Companies have built too many homes that are like chicken coops, treating first time buyers with contempt, and charging them over £200.000 for the indignation.

timber frame buildings

quality timber frame fully insulated buildings

Our aim, is to offer a modern type structure which is Passive, with low heating costs, as little as £80 a year, which boasts triple glazing as standard, under floor heating, Air Source Heat Pumps, Air Recuperation systems, and so much more for less than a Mobile Static Home.

We believe that this kind of build will dominate the market in years to come, and we would like to shape this market with sensible pricing, with our standard of quality leading the way!

Why we are different to any other company is the standard of our build quality.

Our timber is not subjected to any salt, unlike 99% of all timber brought from over seas.

Our Grade of Timber is uncommonly high! We only use graded KD C24 FSC 45mm x 195mm treated (if required), which in the UK is priced high to push building companies to purchase other lower grades because of the difficulties in obtaining higher grades at sensible pricing. Most timber frame studwork is done with C16, and sometimes sadly, the timber is not even graded.

We are able to offer a full turnkey solution, planning, drawings, base, groundwork, the super insulated timber frame building and every other aspect of the build.

Next we believe in offering not just the best CE approved laminated timber triple glazed windows and doors money can buy, we offer these where other companies would offer cheap UPVC plastic windows- doors.

Passive timber frame housing

Also we offer quality security locking mechanisms on all our Windows and Doors, keeping your property secure from unwanted intruders, and mother nature!

The list goes on and on, why our super insulated timber frame passive homes are without doubt the best in the business, if you are interested in purchasing a timber frame, passive building, that really is sensibly priced, please give us a call.

Passive Park Homes Poole Dorset!

passive park Homes

Quality Timber Frame Passive Park Homes-Holiday Home-

Quality Passive Park Homes are as rare as the dodo!

Moreover, finding a Park Home that is built to as high standards as ours is as rare as the labor party’s seats in Scotland!

What we are offering to the public is not just a thin timber frame building with some larch cladding,

Logcabins.lv is offering the behemoth, a tearing down of old perceptions on the what a mobile home is at present, and really bringing to market a Park Home that is so high , in insulation in quality, and tech,  that all companies-manufacturers should and must follow our standards if they want to carry on having sales of any kind!

We are without doubt the leading light in this industry for innovation, quality and price!

Gone are the days when a caravan like structure is adequate, as a population we expect better and the best to be the best, but sadly, we have turned into a throw away nation.

8 out of 10 retired couples who purchase a Park Home expect to loose their investment. We have between 100 to 250 emails a week from couples, asking us for advice on what kind of structure (build type) to purchase, and our advice to them is to purchase nothing at all that is manufactured to the BS 3632!

As a Brit, I must say I am horrified how little we take care of our retired Population, and I am amazed how the government has even allowed this build type to go into law, and then into production, its wasteful of materials, it has no resalable value and it costs us all millions in taxes!

If a retired couple were to purchase a typical Park Home, which is manufactured / built to the BS 3632, it is very likely they will lose their entire investment after some 20 years.

Park Homes built under the BS 3632 devalue rapidly due to the incredibly pathetic build standard, inadequate insulation, and awful windows and doors.

Our thoughts why the Park Homes of today are costing the taxpayer money!

If a retired couple invest 50% of the equity from their property/pension savings into purchasing a park home, and the other was used for living expenses, holidays, grand children etc.

When the time comes for full time care, as sadly that is where we all end up one day, their return on their 20 year old Park Home would be insufficient to pay for full time care, or a holiday in Camber Sands!

If you are looking for not just the best Park Home ever manufactured and on display for viewing, then please give us a call, or send us an email. Our Buildings increase in value, to find out more please give us a call!
