An Detailed Guide to Timber Frame Home Insulation Insulation is a critical component that is frequently overlooked while building your dream wood frame home. Proper insulation not only assures year-round comfort, but it also helps with energy efficiency and cost savings. As experts in the area, we will walk you through all you need to know about choosing the correct insulation for your wood frame home in this article.
Understanding Timber Frame Building Before getting into insulating choices, it’s critical to first understand timber frame construction. Timber framing is a traditional building technique that uses huge timber beams and posts to create a house’s structural framework. These frameworks are then filled with a variety of materials, including insulation, to give comfort and weather protection.
Considerations When Choosing Insulation
Thermal Performance and R-Value When choosing insulation for your wood frame home, the R-value is the most important thing to consider. The R-value of an insulating material evaluates its heat resistance. In layman’s words, it determines how well the insulation resists heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the thermal performance of the insulation.
You’ll want insulation with a high R-value when insulating a timber frame home to keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Spray foam insulation and rigid foam boards are two common insulation materials with high R-values.
Water Resistance Moisture ingress into timber frame homes can lead to structural damage and mould growth. As a result, choosing moisture-resistant insulating materials is critical. Closed-cell spray foam insulation, which forms a barrier against moisture intrusion, is an ideal solution in this regard.
Environmental Concerns There are various sustainable insulating alternatives available for people that prioritise eco-friendly options. Recycled denim insulation and cellulose insulation derived from recycled paper materials are two examples. These materials not only provide great insulation, but they are also less harmful to the environment.
Installation Procedures The efficiency of your insulation is dependent on proper installation. Batt insulation, blown-in insulation, and spray foam insulation are all methods of installing insulation. The approach you choose may be determined by your budget as well as the specific needs of your wood frame home.
Spray foam insulation is one of the recommended insulation options. Spray foam insulation is a popular alternative for timber-framed homes due to its high R-value and resilience to dampness. It forms a smooth and airtight barrier, preventing heat loss and lowering energy bills.
Advantages:
R-value high Superior moisture resistance qualities of air sealing Long life expectancy Drawbacks:
Higher initial investment
Insulation using Rigid Foam Board Rigid foam board insulation provides superior thermal performance as well as moisture resistance. Because it is simple to cut and install, it is a favourite choice among builders.
Advantages:
R-value high Moisture-resistant Simple to use and install Applications that are versatile Drawbacks:
Additional air sealing may be required.
In conclusion, selecting the appropriate insulation for your wood frame home is critical for assuring comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term structural integrity. Because of their superior thermal performance and moisture resistance, we recommend spray foam insulation or rigid foam board insulation. If environmental sustainability is important to you, look into recycled denim insulation and cellulose insulation. You may enjoy a cosy and eco-friendly timber frame house for years to come if you make an informed decision.
When it comes to insulation, remember that investing in quality materials and appropriate installation is an investment in the future of your home. Make the correct decision today to live in a pleasant and energy-efficient timber frame home.

And our factorycabins.com cost is absurdly inexpensive when compared to the quality level, for one simple reason: we are here to deliver quality at a fair price. We basically brought all of our competitors’ windows and doors, yep, we went under the radar and bought 12 sets of windows and doors, and guess what, they all sold expensive “crap.” Then we disassembled them to really see what was being offered, and what we discovered was that 65% of the companies used only a small amount of cheap mastic sealant in their windows and doors, and some companies did not use any at all. Following that, we noticed that almost every manufacturer was (is) lowering costs on “diy” glass so-called double glazing packages. Because the majority of enterprises (89% of them) create their own glass, it is not CE-approved double glazing, but rather cheap panes of glass imported from China that are put together and labelled double glazing. The same high-quality double glass modules are used in Twinskin Log Cabins with double walls and access for insulation. Unlike many low-cost manufacturers, factorycabins.com goes out of its way to ensure that your windows will last for many years. The handcrafted technique includes the use of double mastic as well as high-quality galvanised black rain shields that will never rot or rust. A simple wipedown with a damp cloth is all that is required, or if there is any more tenacious dirt or grime, such as bird droppings, a basic window cleaning solution from your local hardware shop or supermarket will do the job quickly. The window frames are mortised and tenoned with care and precision. Many of our competitors usually overlook this stage. The wood in the framework has been kiln dried to a moisture percentage of 3/6%. We always encourage our clients to ensure that the windows are properly stained and weather-protected as soon as possible in order to keep the moisture content and avoid any swelling, warping, or twisting. This simple procedure yields a completely watertight device. There is a link to the homepage of this website. Please watch the films, which will certainly amaze you with the exquisite attention that goes into window building, for a more detailed description of the windows. We shower the windows with a vigorous water spray for over an hour as part of the quality control process. There isn’t a single drop or drip of water that gets it to the other side. This supports not just the excellent craftsmanship of these devices, but also the precision closures that result in a hermetically sealed product. Security should not be an issue with any high-quality single- or double-glazed unit. In order to be a leader in innovation in the UK, www.factorycabins.com only uses the highest quality hardware for its hinges, handles, stays, and—most importantly—its five-point locking mechanism. The old English proverb “Don’t spoil the ship for a ha’porth of tar” has always guided factorycabins.com. Historically, those who “skipped on the tar” discovered that their ships began to leak and list, never living up to their former aspirations. The same principle holds true for log cabins, specifically log cabin windows. Be aware of shady knockoffs who still make windows for a living. Whether it’s a garden log cabin, a garden office, a summerhouse, or a residential cabin, your log cabin should be something you’re proud of and something you’ll use for many years. Www.factorycabins.com windows are all intended to provide long-term satisfaction. It truly ends up being less expensive in the long run, with no fuss. Doors for Log Homes In terms of security, in addition to having effective lockable windows, your front and back doors must be extremely robust and durable to withstand any break-in attempts. While high-quality deadlocks are necessary, we believe that many manufacturers design doors that are so weak that a front door can be simply kicked inward. One of the most significant characteristics of a well guarded home entrance door is that it opens outward. In this technique, the door jamb is incorporated into the framework behind the door, making it nearly impossible to kick open once the door is closed. To properly enforce this level of security, you must have a really strong, solid door that acts as a fortress to secure your property. Www.factorycabins.com makes such log cabin doors and provides the necessary high-grade deadlock security locks with three keys. Such huge doors must smoothly hang and swing open and close. This involves the use of extremely strong hinges. Again, such components are included in the bundle at www.factorycabins.com. It is vital to consider the type of furniture that will be used in each room when designing a multi-room log home. Take the bedroom, for example. If you have a set of wardrobes in your bedroom and have limited space, the bedroom door should open outwards rather than inwards. When rooms are close together and create a corner, other aspects must be considered. Installing a door in such a way that it completely covers another door is not a good idea.
External glass doors are double-glazed to the greatest extent practicable. Internal doors are mortise and tenon jointed and made of well-seasoned solid pine. In these circumstances, only the highest quality glazing is used when selecting glazed interior doors. The entrance door of a house, whether residential or a garden log cabin, should be welcoming, and factorycabins.com invests a significant amount of time and money ensuring that such doors are not only gorgeous but also functional. We recommend that you maintain your door as soon as possible with appropriate microporous paint to ensure that it remains in pristine shape for many years to come. Higher-quality products that cost a little more than lower-quality products last much longer and cost less in the long term, because lower-quality products usually need to be replaced numerous times during the same period. You will always feel safe and secure with a factorycabins.com door. If you have any further inquiries, please contact us by email at sales@factorycabins.com. Below is an accurate description on how the standard BS 3632 Park Homes, or static mobiles, are manufactured by the top 10 UK leading manufacturers: “They do not have to be better”, they just meet the regulation to its letter.
And when you are hypnotised by the kitchen and TV you forget to ask them one very simple question, Is this a financial investment? if they say yes, they are lying, if they say no then they are just plain stupid, as why do they think for the past 50 years you have bought and sold and earned a tidy sum from your property portfolio,, to waste every penny on a cheap, nasty , awful , rubbish BS 3632.
Our residential park homes are manufactured to such a high standard that no one in the industry is even slightly close, our basic insulation package is 250 floors, 300 walls, and 350 roof, fitted with triple glazed windows and doors. That’s just the beginning; all our units are made with C24, graded KD FCE timber, we offer fireproof, waterproof, and insulated cladding on the outside of the building; and amazing internal panel systems that make you building look like a house in Park Lane. And the price is lower than anything even similar to that offered in the UK.
Insanity, from £80.000 to 500.000 for a Residential Park Home manufactured to the standard BS 3632 Madness
BS3632’s Dreadful Reality: Poorly Manufactured, Expensive, and Wasteful
The British Standards Institution (BSI) developed BS3632 standards to ensure that the building and design of residential park houses, vacation lodges, and static caravans satisfy the appropriate safety and quality norms. On the surface, these tight rules appear to be a wonderful concept; nevertheless, upon closer study and analysis, it becomes abundantly clear that adhering to BS 3632 frequently leads in expensive, overpriced holiday homes of poor quality, far from optimal comfort and safety. Indeed, deciding to build and purchase a vacation home to this standard demonstrates a careless disdain for quality, wastefulness of resources, and utter financial inefficiency.
To begin with, BS3632-compliant constructions are frequently built with extremely expensive building materials such as premium insulation, strong roofing materials, and fire-resistant materials. As a result, these vacation homes are significantly more expensive than residences that do not adhere to such stringent regulations. Factory cabins, the most popular choice for park home buildings in the UK, are often even more expensive due to their large-scale production procedures. Aside from the financial burden, the bulk of these high-end building materials are generally of poor quality, revealing a lack of attention and diligence in their design and construction. As a result, many holiday homes that meet the BS3632 standard today are bad investments, with poor performance in cold temperatures, trouble holding heat, and a variety of other structural flaws.
Furthermore, the inefficiency and excessive expense of such a method of developing vacation homes do not end there. If your static caravan, holiday home, or mobile home fails to meet BS3632 standards, large-scale improvements and renovations are frequently required; this necessitates both financial and time investments that could have been avoided if a stronger emphasis on quality was placed during initial construction. Furthermore, up to 60% of the resources used to construct the mobile or park home are frequently squandered, making this an unsustainable and expensive approach in both the short and long term.
It is clear that the harsh reality of BS 3632 does not live up to the initial promise; while the idea of having such stringent guidelines for the construction and design of residential park homes may appear appealing, following BS 3632 frequently results in poorly manufactured, overpriced, and wasteful holiday homes. Choose a builder and manufacturer who refuses to accept subpar materials and is dedicated to providing you with the best holiday home experience possible for great quality, safety, and sustainability in your vacation house. We are dedicated to delivering holiday homes that meet and exceed industry standards without sacrificing energy efficiency, comfort, or your budget at [Your Company Name]. Invest in a holiday house that prioritises your comfort and actually enriches your vacation experience.
At Factory Cabins we build the best of the best, and our quality can not be touched. This amazing, massively insulated , quality timber frame Park home can be yours at a price that will make you smile and also its very sellable when you finished. And no you do not lose money!
The thermal performance and energy efficiency of new brick buildings and fully insulated timber frame buildings differ dramatically. The article dives into the reasons why new brick projects frequently fall short in these areas when compared to their timber-framed equivalents. It is important to highlight that this debate does not explore any legal, ethical, or moral consequences; rather, it concentrates entirely on the technical elements of the problem.
To begin, the selection of construction materials is critical in determining a building’s energy efficiency. Brick buildings, despite their longevity and aesthetic appeal, have poor insulating characteristics. Bricks are dense and have a relatively large thermal mass, which means they can absorb and hold heat. However, this same quality works against them in terms of energy efficiency. During hot weather, brick walls can absorb and reflect heat into the building’s interior, raising internal temperatures and increasing dependency on cooling equipment.
Timber frame constructions, on the other hand, take advantage of the natural insulating characteristics of wood. Wood has a lesser thermal conductivity than brick, which means it does not transport heat as easily. Because of this intrinsic feature, timber-framed constructions are more effective at keeping a steady indoor temperature. Furthermore, timber framing allows for the insertion of insulation materials within the walls, producing a barrier that limits heat transfer between the interior and outside environments. As a result, these buildings demand less energy for heating and cooling, contributing to increased energy efficiency.
The construction approach itself contributes to the variations in thermal performance. Brick buildings are built using traditional masonry techniques that entail laying individual bricks with mortar. This procedure can result in gaps between bricks through which heat can penetrate, resulting in thermal bridging. These gaps can impair the insulation of the building envelope, making it less effective at preventing heat exchange. Timber frame buildings, on the other hand, can be precisely built to minimise such gaps, ensuring a more continuous and effective insulation layer.
Furthermore, the design freedom of timber frame construction allows for the incorporation of sophisticated insulating materials. Modern insulation materials, such as rigid foam boards and spray foam, can be smoothly incorporated into timber frame constructions, providing better levels of heat resistance. Because of construction limits, these materials are frequently difficult to retrofit into existing brick buildings. Timber frame buildings have a distinct advantage in terms of adapting to evolving insulation methods due to their design versatility.
Another critical issue is building pace. Brick buildings, due to their labor-intensive nature, might take longer to finish, thus delaying the project timeframe. Timber frame buildings, on the other hand, may be erected faster, decreasing construction time and expenses. This efficiency not only allows for faster occupancy but also reduces the environmental impact of building activities.
This amazing timber-framed, highly insulated house below, if timber frame, with a external brick cladding system, which means, fireproof, long term wear, rain , waterproof, and also combines as insulation as well. What your looking at is an A rated highly green house, that saves you thousands in energy bills.
In conclusion, a variety of factors, such as material qualities, construction techniques, and design flexibility, contribute to the thermal efficiency of contemporary brick structures when compared to fully insulated timber frame buildings. Despite having advantages in terms of strength and beauty, brick buildings are not as energy efficient as timber-framed ones. It is important to note that these observations are based simply on technical concerns and do not go into ethical, legal, or moral issues.

At [Factory Cabins LTD], we are dedicated to promoting sustainable timber practices and achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the timber industry. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the key strategies and initiatives that can help us outrank other websites and establish ourselves as a leading authority on sustainable timber.
The Importance of Sustainable Timber Practices
Sustainable timber practices play a pivotal role in mitigating climate change and preserving our natural resources. As the global demand for timber continues to rise, it becomes imperative for the industry to adopt eco-friendly measures that safeguard the environment and support the well-being of local communities.
1. Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification
One of the cornerstones of sustainable timber practices is obtaining Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. This certification ensures that timber products come from responsibly managed forests, where environmental, social, and economic considerations are carefully balanced. By sourcing FSC-certified timber, we actively contribute to forest conservation and demonstrate our commitment to sustainable sourcing.
2. Carbon Footprint Reduction
Reducing the carbon footprint in the timber industry is essential to achieving net-zero emissions. We employ advanced technologies and best practices to optimize manufacturing processes, minimize energy consumption, and limit greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, we invest in renewable energy sources to power our operations, further reducing our carbon footprint.
3. Sustainable Harvesting Techniques
Our dedication to sustainable harvesting techniques sets us apart from other timber companies. We adhere to selective logging practices, which involve carefully choosing trees for harvesting while preserving the integrity of the forest ecosystem. Through this approach, we ensure the regeneration and longevity of forests, fostering a sustainable timber supply chain.
4. Reforestation and Afforestation Efforts
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we actively engage in reforestation and afforestation efforts. Our team collaborates with local communities and organizations to plant new trees and restore degraded landscapes. These initiatives not only help sequester carbon dioxide but also contribute to biodiversity conservation and provide livelihood opportunities for local communities.
5. Responsible Water Management
Water is a valuable resource, and we recognise the importance of responsible water management in timber operations. By implementing water-efficient technologies and monitoring our water usage, we minimise the impact on watersheds and aquatic ecosystems. We prioritise water conservation to ensure a sustainable future for both our company and the communities we operate in.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
Our approach to sustainable timber practices extends beyond our own operations. We actively engage with stakeholders, including local communities, environmental organizations, and government agencies, to foster transparency and collaboration. By involving all relevant parties, we work together to address environmental challenges and collectively strive for a more sustainable future.
Conclusion
In conclusion, [Factory Cabins LTD] is committed to outranking other websites and becoming a leading voice in promoting sustainable timber practices and achieving net-zero carbon emissions. Through FSC certification, carbon footprint reduction, sustainable harvesting, reforestation, responsible water management, and stakeholder engagement, we forge a path towards a greener and more sustainable timber industry.
By implementing these comprehensive strategies, we aim to not only outrank our competitors but also contribute to the greater cause of combating climate change and preserving our precious natural resources.
BS 3632.. LIES…..
Misinterpreting terminology in online content is a criminal act that can and will result in fines, imprisonment, or both. So when I see this on a major manufacturer’s website, i get seriously angry. (Built to BS3632 residential standard) ( excuse my language, but what the fuck does that mean, Residential Standard, that means Net Zero, now, quality, A class, fitted with a huge amount of solar panels, that run a ground heat source pump, which combined with batteries etc, give you a Net Zero energy bill at the end of each year, and yes Factory Cabins can offer this, but ,highly insulated, triple glazed, is written on one of the largest websites in the UK that sells this terrible, pricey rubbish; you may ask, Where is the lie? Using the word residential, the BS 3632 is not residential, and using that terminology for this product is liable.
Why am I so unhappy about this build type? Because it allows the government to steal enormous amounts of taxes from you and the companies that own the parks, where you have no rights, and you must pay monthly for this and that, and because your Van is heated by gas or electric, which costs you massively in winter, and in the summer your air conditioner is on full time because you need to stop your BS3632 from turning into a sauna.
At the end of its very short life, it will be worthless and end up being shipped to other countries. I bet a few of you are asking why other countries, because scrapping a mobile home costs a lot of money, and many parts are completely nature friendly, so they sell it for 2–3 thousand, and the Baltic and Romanian, Eastern Bloc countries, buy them and use them in the woods for places to stay, but they clad them in about 600 mm of some very cheap insulation, ripped out the windows, and added cheap triple glazing instead. They become a blight on the landscape, as most politicians in these counties don’t care too much about anything; they litter their forests and landscape with the UK’s rubbish. The same as we did with Africa with plastic bottles, we do the same with the Eastern Bloc Countries with our old and polluting caravans.
The UK government has stated that by 2030, all houses built must be A++ Net Zero. This has not been pointed towards the Mobile Home market, however, I would not put it past the government to bring this into play very soon, as a better-built Park home uses less electricity and would cost more from UK companies, which means more tax, and they already sell these buildings for absurd prices.
We can manufacture on our house line( full CNC) for you an A-grade house that complies with BS 3632, but that’s where it ends; it’s so much of a higher specification that it can be easily removed from wherever you have cited it, In reality, it is a high-spec, highly insulated residential house that sits on its own floor cassettes and can be easily disassembled and moved elsewhere.
BS3632 park home, which is declining in price (investment) every day and hourly. It’s a mess, and it’s an unjust build type, and no doubt Stop Oil and our little friend Greta will start throwing paint on these build types because the BS3632 has no regard for the environment, runs on gas or electricity, and is 100% garbage in every manner. And after 10 years, anything manufactured according to BS 3632 is semi worthless. I know this industry is worth hundreds of millions of pounds per year, but the people who govern it are incredibly aggressivebut they use words like, home from home, and investment, and it’s a no-brainer to make lots of new friends. But is that worth losing all the investment you put into buying this heap of crap that has lowwwwww U value attached to it. I manufacture houses, i know what’s good and bad, BS 3632 is worthless.
Below I added a van; the difference is 3 years; it’s still the same van, as they call them in the industry, the windows are a bit different; but the price loss is nearly £10.000, or £8.833.33 a year. Factory Cabins Ltd. would like to help, provide you with what you need, and help you keep your long and hard-earned investment, for your children, a retirement home, or long term care, so we decided to manufacture a BS 3632 that was resalable and an investment. Too many park homeowners fly around in helicopters and rip off our old-age pensioners with golden words; it’s all a con. We are house manufacturers; we respect and look after our pensioners and give you a Net Zero BS 3632, which may cost a few pennies more, but this is an investment. No loss, all gain. Fact.
3 years and a £30.000 drop! If a product goes down in price so quickly, alarm bells need to start ringing.

What is an insulated timber frame garden room, because there seems to be a mass confusion on this subject generally throughout this industry.
Size
cabin 3394
Cabin size – 7.5 m x 4.5 m (29.55 sq meters)
Decking – 4.2 m x 0.9 m
Window size – 2x 150 cm x 113 cm
Window size – 1x 75 cm x 113 cm
Window size – 1x 50 cm x 50 cm
Door size – 3x 80 cm x 193 cm (inside)
Door size – 1x 240 cm x 195 cm
Bedroom – 2.8 m x 1.95 m
Bedroom – 2.8 m x 1.95 m
Bathroom – 1.0 m x 1.6 m
Lounge – 2.4 m x 3.0 m
Ridge height – 2.47 m
Wall height – 2.0 m
Now there are many kinds of Insulated Timber Frame Garden Rooms, there are solid log cabins that are insulated internally and if you get a company that really truly knows what they are doing, ( how to put up false walls that move with the cabin shrinking) and are not using quick grown pine as the cabin body as this will shrink and the internal wall will crack and break before long, then your OK, then there are twin skin glulam cabins which are the best choice, as you can either twinskin them and add huge amounts of insulation between the walls also hide the wiring and services, pipes etc, and the shrinking is minimal.
OK.. Insulated means, insulation, but what kind of insulation should you use, and what kind of stud wall, or log would suit your budget the best. And this word budget seems to be the most dirtiest word in the business.
I have asked many customers what’s their budget, and they always say, OK, 99.9% of them say, I do not know, and this makes me smile, because i know that their thoughts are that if they say 20, 30 or even 70.000 we are going to take advantage of that and try and get as much from them as possible, and as I said it makes me smile, it also makes me angry slightly, because not all of us are crooks, and we need to know budget because we have a Massive Selection of different kinds of buildings available that would suit their purpose, but all come at different levels of pricing, we are also very busy people, all of us, customer and manufacturer, and offering this and then that and then this and then that, just takes up time and eventually we find out 90% of the time what they wanted was so far out of their budget the whole exercise has been a waste of time both ends. So it is helpful from first call, to tell us how much you want to spend, and what size of a building you are looking for and we will try our very best to get the into your garden or field, camping site, Holiday park the building or buildings you desire to price.
There are so many choices, but the best in my books is a Timber Frame Garden Insulated Office each and every time, as it takes very little time to erect, and when its finished it looks amazing and it really is insulated, quality and without doubt the best choice.
There are many many companies offering timber frame buildings for the garden, but the ones you must stay clear of are the ones that build it from scratch in your garden, you must only purchase made panels that are weather tight and if it rains will not hurt the interior of the build in any form., you do not want your building to rot from the inside out.. Fungus and rot are harmful to your health and are unseen if covered with plaster board.
Sometimes your house is just not big enough, and you need extra space, then you either think, dreaded BS 3632 Caravan, ( the most expensive garbage sadly our country has ever invented) or a Quick Grown Pine Baltic Cabin from some company that sells crap at low prices and calls them residential which are manufactured from fast grown baltic pine, or you think, quality, and sustainability and you think logcabinslv.co.uk. Not so cheap but quality and quality that will last, and prices that will astound you.
Its easy to make a quality log cabin, you just need the right ingredients, and the right machinery, the right lumber and the right management that like us wants to manufacture the best of the best, and keep pricing low, unlike sadly 99.9% of cabin companies in the Baltics/ UK that can charge as much as 5000 to 10.000 more for a cabin than us, pure greed and now rather stupid. Brexit means, European Cabins will cost more and more, and from us, well, less and less.
Passive Timber Frame LV design Houses.
If you are looking for a quality passive timber frame solution we have it, as we have a full CNC line and also a full bespoke service that is able to offer not just quality log cabins for sale in the UK, but also timber frame buildings, that are much needed for the housing market at the moment at a fraction of the costs that are being banneded about by most manufacturers in the UK, 1000 pounds per sq meter for a A++ house is F—-ing disgusting and stupidly overpriced .. actually Greedy. Like most UK companies that import from abroad, who actually know nothing about the product, just sell it on and hope for the best, we at LV know our product, and lets not forget, the timber that the UK companies use to be able to purchase now can’t, which means home grown, quick gown timber will be used in timber frames in the UK, LV use only graded Russian, tight Grain C24 , which means quality from the inside out, do not forget LV manufacture it, and design it, and truly believe in it. If your looking for quality, then speak to us…
As one of the largest timber frame house suppliers in Norway, we are often asked to manufacture highly insulted timber frame buildings for the northern most part of the country. Norwegians are very much into keeping the landscape looking natural and designing their properties to blend into the countryside.
Norway has one of the highest build regulation standards in the world. TEK 10.
Three times that of the UK and most of Europe.
Insulation values are a major part of this high standard, but also on par with insulation is build quality. Visual Graded CE KD C24 is the only grade expectable for all weight bearing walls, roof etc. Most of Europe and UK use Visual Graded C16, which is the bottom most part of the Visual Grade Scale. (Please ask your builder which grade he is thinking of using in your timber frame build).
Norwegians love to use sedum roofing out in the wilds, as this offers amazing insulation properties to the timber frame or Log Cabin dwellings and gives the building a natural feel, and also brings natural into the design, so it’s a plus, plus , plus!
Sedum roofing is a very heavy alternative to steal tiles, or shingles. All our timber frame buildings are built regardless if they are erected in Northern Norway or Essex with strength in every part of the construction.
If you are looking for a quality timber frame building-house-office-garage-park home-mobile-granny annex- etc, please give us a call or send us an email.
This Blog today is just to speak quickly about timber frame buildings and log cabins, and how they are greatly different.
There are quite a few agents/dealers in the UK- Europe that will offer you a log cabin, and call it a residential building. But the difference between the two is night and day.
A residential building, timber frame, is designed to be a 12-month a year dwelling. A single skin log cabin is not.
In certain countries where rainfall is minimal and the season is hot then very cold, then a single skin 220mm Scandinavian log cabin is great, but in some parts of Europe-UK where the weather is very damp, this kind of structure has its limitations due to rainfall.
When a company offers you a single skin log cabin say in 70mm solid timber and offers to clad the building inside, this still does not get around the moisture issue.
This year we have had hundreds of people call us and ask us if our twin skin log cabins (solid timber) will meet building regulations, and sat tests, etc, and the honest answer is yes, but we need to redesign the whole cabin. And we 9 times out of 10 ask them to look at the timber frame selection, which we have over one hundred designs in our gallery.
Timber frame is truly the only way to go if you are on a budget, and you are looking for super insulted building, which will also last the test of time.
Below are some photos of Timber Frame buildings we have manufactured and built.
If you are looking for a mobile home, Park Home, or a Quality Retreat, please give us a call.
logcabinslv.co.uk. the number one company on the web for designs, price, and quality!
Log cabins, garden timber offices, 1-2-3 bay timber garages, outhouses, nurseries, timber frame buildings, schools classrooms, granny annex, work rooms, workshops, art studio, residential structures, residential park homes, are all available in bespoke, custom designs. Unlike 99% of other companies we do not just bespoke wall sizes, ridge heights, positions of windows and doors, we also custom design the window and door sizes, shapes, and integrity. If you are looking for a door that must have toughened glass, just ask, if you would like a door to be wheelchair friendly, no problem.
The reason Log Cabins LV is so dominant in the cabin, timber frame market place is partly to due with the fact that we have the best dealer network worldwide; also we are very choosy about who becomes an LV dealer. If you do not see our trade mark shield on the dealers website and each cabin image, then they are not selling our products, if a company claims to sell our products, but you can not see our logo, please do not hesitate to send us an email or give us a call. Too many companies are already trying to claim they are part of our dealer network and that the cabin’s they are selling are LV. Please email us if you are in doubt. Attached are a few images of our new to come Passive Park Homes, we feel Park homes are poorly manufactured and over priced, so we now offering the market a quality Park Home Timber Frame Home which is massively insulated, with quality over sized, under priced, graded C24 timber frame work, which will make the rest of the industry run for cover!!
With the best windows and doors in the business, your bespoke park home will be the best it can be!

Over the years I have spoken relentlessly about quality timber frame buildings, and how it is so very, very important to have grading of the highest caliber on timber which is destined for the manufacturing of Park Homes, Timber Frame Residential Buildings and the like, also that these kind of structures must be strong on there own merit and not part of a whole. Here you can see panels, floating in the air, which shows our true belief in our panel construction and the quality of build.
Designing new and amazing Cabins, Log Cabins, Pods, and Laminated Cabins is great fun, but today we thought we would share with you our thoughts on the future of the Good Old fashioned Bungalow.
In the UK there are hundreds of thousand Bungalows, Brick and Block, heated by gas, most of which are sadly very poorly insulated, and designed for a bygone year!
So we decided to re-invent the good old-fashioned Bungalow, a Bungalow that would be super efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and would allow the owner to be proud of his-her property. Plus fitted out with all the modern gadgets.
Please feast your eyes on the future of Passive Bungalows!
Heat Source Pumps to get rid of all those nasty gas bills.
Quality Timber Frame structure. Siberian Larch Cladding. Built in Elements.
A Sedum Room.
And a copious amount of Insulation.
And an amazing Logcabins.LV design to boot.
The walls of this amazing little bungalow are nearly 350mm thick, packed with insulation. The roof is a staggering 450mm thick, with a sedum roof to give your property that back to the nature feel.
All in all, this quality structure is the future, and we are happy to participate in offering this kind of natural living space into public domain.
